Zilberman Gallery, Istanbul, is hosting the second solo exhibition of Heba Y. Amin, titled 'An Astronomical Determination of the Distance Between Two Cities', from January 7 to February 18, 2017.

The exhibition is a two-part project where Amin looks at the historical patterns of technology and urban development in relation to contemporary migratory paths. Amin critiques the predatory view of landscape and the exoticization of women’s bodies in relation to geography. For this he uses cartographic research and landscape surveillance. The project proposes a visual allegory focusing on architectural fragments and sexual desires to challenge colonial histories. Her first project was titled 'The Earth'.

'An Astronomical Determination of the Distance Between Two Cities' examines the structural remnants of La Agüera and explores its colonial era in juxtaposition to the remaining architectural fragments guarded by Mauritanian military forces.

The exhibition is on view at Zilberman Gallery, Istiklal Cad. No. 163 Misir Apartmani K.3 D. 10 Beyoğlu/Istanbul. For details, visit www.zilbermangallery.com
